Along the back of the chateau this little used cobbled track leads out beside the row of cottages and out over an old bridge and heads out to join the main road.
To think this was once the approach to the chateau from Thiviers.

This impressive chateau over looks the river Isle and is just as imposing when seen from down below on the river side.
Jumilhac - Morning run 13km
Running along woodland trails and open countryside, hike up a few steep valleys, todays morning run is a 13km loop starting and finishing at Jumilhac Le Grand.
At the end of our mornings run we will be stopping for our picnic lunch at the river side down below the imposing chateau. A cool relaxing spot to recuperate after our interesting run. So much to see on todays morning run.
The impressive chateau over looks the river Isle and is just as imposing when seen from down below on the river side. Time to snap a few photos infront of the chateau before we head off along the narow streets looking down the valley at the deer grazing in the field below. We head down the little lane to reach the river Isle, where they still today pan for gold ! We run along the river Isle and cross over a little wooden bridge before we then climb up the rocky outcrop and have an imposing view of the chateau across the valley. Today we will pass another imposing chateau, which is now home to an Equestrian centre, where we are likely to see this years foals playing in the paddocks. We pass a gem of a water mill hidden down a little track, run past an ancient school house in the middle of no where, pass through tiny quaint hamlets, hop across stream crossings run under the shady woodland before heading back to Jumilhac down its little narrow quiet streets.
There is then the option for a further run in the afternoon as we head back to Lavaud between 9-10km*
*All of the afternoon runs are optional, a decision can be made after lunch as to whether you wish to do the run or opt out. This trail running holiday is all about the enjoying the trails, nothing is a race.
